The moment we all were waiting for, the start of the cricket season for 12 Stars.

It was a nice sunny Sunday morning and every player was on time(almost 1hr 10m before the start time 😛). Being the match manager there was more pressure on me to reach on time. With the help of my teammates, we were able to set up the ground.

Our opponent for the first T20 of the season was Anderlecht CC, a new club in the Belgium circuit. Always good to see some new teams coming up 🙂

After the completion of warmups, Rohan presented debutant Sarath with his 12 stars cap. Welcome to the club Sarath.

Captain Nemish Mehta was making his debut as captain of the team and started with a bang by winning the first toss of the season and decided to bat(as per the plan).

The left and right duo of Nemish and Sazzad opened the batting and got us off to a good start. We lost a couple of quick wickets, but Nemish and Arshvir stitched a good partnership of 74 runs in 8 overs. After the fall of Arshvir’s wicket, Nemish brought up his 50( on debut as captain is amazing). We stuck to our plan and managed to score 152 in 20 overs(2 more runs compared to our initial plan). Asijit finished the innings with a strike rate of 133 and you could see the happiness on his face 😅.

Now over to bowling, Kamal(swinging snail) started with a wicket in his very first over, and continued his merry ways in the next few overs, finishing with brilliant figures of 6/3 in 4 overs. Dream start to the season. (The funny part about that spell was the runout that Ravi got when he shouted Kamal move and Kamal at his own snail’s pace missed the ball by a whisker, luckily the ball only hit the stumps and not him :P. Jokes apart), there was very good support from Vishal and Rohan who picked up 2 wickets each. Sarath in his debut match bowled very well and took a skier.

We restricted the opposition to 87/9 in 20 overs, winning by a margin of 65 runs.

After the completion of the game and during the cool-down session all were asked to speak about the person sitting in front of them, a good introduction by the captain. Ravi was missing in action as he was busy bowling to Ishaq.

After the cool-down session people sat down for drinks and had a good discussion about the match, IPL, etc etc.

Great start to the season, onwards and upwards we go 🌟

Also, special thanks to Ishaq for helping with scoring, Harkun and his son, Rishi, and Satish to be present during the game. Looking forward to more people coming down for the future matches.

Warrior/s of the week – Captain Nemish Mehta and Swinging Snail Kamal Singh 🙂
